Toyota Celebrates Earth Day in Style

Though it may not be met with same kind of joy and jubilation as, say, Christmas or the fourth of July, we here at Tansky Sawmill Toyota have become awfully big fans of Earth Day over the years. After all, our planet's had it pretty rough for the past couple centuries, the least we can do is give it a holiday and raise some awareness. Not only that, but with our new and used cars becoming that much greener from one model-year to the next, it only makes sense that our favorite automaker would ring in the festivities with bells on this year.

Three Toyota Models Named Top Vehicles for Commuters by AAA

It probably goes without saying, but there are a number of factors that can make or break your commute to and from work each day. Be it bumper-to-bumper traffic or good old-fashioned rubbernecking, we here at Tansky Sawmill Toyota know the drill all too well. The fact of the matter is that a bad commute is just no way to start or end your day, which is one of the many reasons we've come to love our new and used cars that much more than we already do.

Remember last week when we here at Tansky Sawmill Toyota told you all about how wonderfully disruptive our favorite automaker's been as of late? As for us, we couldn't be more excited about it, but in case there are still some non-believers out there about how our new and used cars are shaping the future of the auto industry, have we got some news for you.

Go Green for the New Year with Toyota and Audubon

2013 is right around the corner, folks, and you know what that means: New Year's resolutions, baby. Time to dust off that Nordic Track, time to volunteer at that soup kitchen, time to do your part to save planet Earth (perhaps by starting with a Toyota Prius Hybrid). Last year, things just got away from you, we understand. But no, not this time. This time, you're gonna do it! Well we here at Tansky Toyota just know you can do it, we believe in you! 2013 is going to be your year!

The project launched Thursday during a groundbreaking ceremony. Earth-friendly aspects include use of renewable materials such as bamboo, energy efficient HVAC and electrical systems, and the use of rainwater to flush toilets and supply water to its car wash. Turner also has pledged to recycle more than 75 percent of the construction debris.

The dealership and its design-build team are not the only ones promoting sustainable design. The $13 million London Middle School just received platinum certification and the highest level possible. Architects at SHP Leading Design of Cincinnati designed that 75,000-square-foot project, which the Columbus office of Quandel Construction Group built. The Union County project features a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar tubes and light baffles to bring daylight into the school's interior, and 20 acres of prairie grass as part of a habitat restoration program. The project is designed to save up to 40 percent on its use of electricity and water.

Ever since the Japanese automaker decided to pull out of Formula One racing two years ago, there have been rumors among the racing community that they did so in order to concentrate on returning to the Le Mans endurance race. Regrettably, Toyota has never won the Le Mans race. The only Japanese automaker that has ever won the Le Mans race was able to accomplish this with their well-known rotary engine. Taking this into consideration…

Toyota Supports TV and Film Industry's Environmental Initiatives

It is important for automakers to support environmentally-friendly initiatives within the industry. But it's also imperative that they support green effort within other industries as well. Think about it. We all know that the auto companies are working hard to integrate new sustainable practices and Tansky Toyota certainly pats them on the back for that. Yet there are so many other business hubs that could be partaking as well. And if all those who make the most money in our economy could take a bigger green step forward, well, that would certainly facilitate some major change. Thankfully, it appears that Toyota thoroughly understands this concept as the automaker once again chose to act as the presenting sponsor of the Environmental Media Awards (EMA).

2012 Toyota Camry Made in the United States

It's hard to find many products made in the U.S., these days. That's not, however, to say people don't want to buy 'U.S.-made'. In fact, for many, it's a selling point. Unfortunately, there are some common misconceptions of what U.S.-made actually is, especially in the auto market. Contrary to popular belief, American automakers do not necessarily offer the most...
