Future of Toyota Hybrid Shown Through FT-Bh Concept

Building on the solid green foundations of the Toyota Prius family, the automaker has unveiled an even funkier futuristic hybrid. Dubbed the FT-Bh Concept (Future Toyota B-segment Hybrid), the model is the epitome of unique inside and out.

Shown to the public at the recent Geneva show, the FT-Bh wears a shiny white coat with black outlines and white wheels. While it might in some form be considered a subcompact, the Toyota hybrid's flattened nose, upward slanted roof and downward sloping hood place it in a category of its own.

Turning heads, however, isn't the only motivation behind the unique concept. Toyota is using the FT-Bh to show off the automaker's holistic approach to green engineering and design. Thanks to the exterior styling, the model weighs significantly less and therefore achieves more in the realm of fuel economy. In addition to mass reduction, Toyota officials cite four strong pillars as responsible for the FT-Bh innovation: powertrain efficiency, thermal-energy management, optimized aerodynamics and electrical efficiency.

While the FT-Bh won't make it to production as is, Toyota promises to reaffirm its reputation as the hybrid king using technology which the concept carries. As the automaker moves forward and evolves its gas-electric creations, Tansky Toyota invites you to follow along in one of two ways.
