Here at Tansky Toyota we are big fans of checking out the latest spy shots of new Toyota models, as the Japanese automaker tests them on the road before they arrive at showrooms like ours. Recently, photographers snapped some pictures of the latest Toyota RAV4, and it shows that some big design changes are in the works for the popular crossover SUV.
The RAV4 has long been due for a major upgrade by Toyota, and it appears as though it will get one judging by the photos. First, it's clear the SUV will keep many of the qualities that made it so successful and popular to drivers in Dublin, Columbus, and Newark, but there seems to be a slight change in size. Taking a look at the roofline, it appears it has been scaled to create a sweeping design. The size decrease shouldn't hinder performance, but will make the RAV4 more economical, which is a bonus considering the rising price of gasoline.
Classic RAV4 fans will be disappointed to hear that the spare tire will not be returning to the liftgate, but the front of the vehicle gets a new design a la the 2012 Toyota Camry, sporting a new grille similar to the popular Toyota sedan.
There is one question circulating around in auto circles: what model year will the new RAV4 be? Some believe it is the 2013 edition, while others are convinced the SUV will debut in 2014. Either way, we'll be sure and keep you up to date on the latest developments with the new RAV4.
