Toyota Marks 25-Years of Success in Kentucky

After 25-years of production, the Toyota factory in Georgetown, Kentucky is still going strong. And we're talking 6,600 workers and 500,000 annual units kind of strong. Though Toyota officials work diligently to maintain such success, they can't take all the credit. That is why, the company is using its 25th Kentucky anniversary to thank all those who have contributed to the factory's achievements.
A large success factor for Toyota comes in the shape of its team members. If the sheer number of employees doesn't speak to the company's success, workers' testimonies sure will. Susan Whitney, a group leader for Body Operations, has been with the factory since its birth in 1986. Not only does she claim Toyota loyalty but she pushes two 35-minute daily commutes to show it.
"I did not set a goal to work 25 years (at the plant) and now that I look back at all the things I've seen and been associated with, I'm really proud,"1 Whitney says. And she isn't the only one. In fact, support extends beyond its dedicated team members and into the greater Georgetown community. The strong workforce and pro-active community were two of the reasons that Toyota officials originally chose the location.
Though we at Tansky Toyota may not have thousands of team members on board, we strive to echo our favorite automaker's employee/community ideals.
